On Friday, education minster Punjab Murad Raas made an announcement to promote the students of matriculation and intermediate to next classes without any exams due to the spread of coronavirus.
Grade 9th and 11th students will be promoted to the next classes, whereas the 10th grade’s result will be announced after the checking of the papers. The notification also stated that students will have the opportunity to improve their 12th grade’s result by appearing in the 2021’s exams.
Murad Rass tweeted that no exam will be held for the students of 9th and 10th grade next year. They will be appearing for the 10th and 12th-grade exams and from their result, the previous year’s results will be calculated.
The minister also tweeted that those students who were not able to appear in the exam of the 10th and 12th grade will be evaluated on the basis of their results which they acquired in grades 9 and 11. The students will have to clear in all subjects. Although 3 percent marks will be added to the total marks for the students of class 10 and 12.
The education minister added that students failing in less than 40% of subjects in the 9th and 11th grades will be promoted with passing grades.
Murad Raas put forward four categories in which a special exam will be conducted. Those students who want to improve their 11th grade’s result or a student who is appearing in a composite exam, for them a special exam will be conducted.
Students who have taken additional subjects will be given a chance to appear in a special exam. The last category includes those students who have failed in more than 40% of subjects in the 11th standard.
The Education Minister further stated that the date for the special examination is declared in the notification. According to Murad Raas, the education department is trying hard to make the best decisions for the students.
