Two student groups of the International Islamic University Islamabad had a clash on Thursday, this fight led to the death of one student while 13 others are injured.
As per the police, one of the groups had arranged a book fair in the university. The fight broke out after the harsh words were exchanged between the members of the two groups.
Police arrived at the university for restoring the peace and order.
The Deputy commissioner Islamabad took it to his social media handle and tweeted that there was a clash between the two student bodies in University. He further wrote that unluckily one student lost his life because of the clash. Police and magistrates are on the location of the incident. He also wrote that rangers had been called too and the entire area is being searched. He urged people to contact and share if they have any relevant information regarding the unfortunate incident.
Previously on the 22nd of January, the administration of the University of Punjab had called in the police for dispersing the angry students belonging to the 3 different student groups clashing over a cultural event.
During the incident, one student set the research lab on fire and vandalized the electrical engineering department of the university. They also damaged the vehicles parked near the department.
On the other hand, the government is contemplating to introduce a comprehensive and enforceable code of conduct for the restoration of the student unions that could play their role in the positive grooming of the youth as future leaders of the country.
