Sri Lanka’s cricket team has reached Islamabad today before the test series against Pakistan commencing from the 11th of December.
Test cricket is making a comeback to the country after over a decade as the Sri Lankan team plays its World Test Championship matches in Pakistan. the first test would start on Wednesday at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi after which there would be a second Test and that would be played at the National Stadium Karachi from the 19th till the 23rd of December.
Suranga Lakmal—the Sri Lankan fast bowler would be missing the two-Test match series after getting dengue fever, as per the announcement made by the cricket board of Sri Lanka on Sunday. He would be replaced by Asitha Fernando who would be joining the team for the second match of the series.
Sri Lanka has also given former skipper Dinesh Chandimal a chance to combat his way back into the national team, led by Dimuth Karunaratne.
On the other hand, Pakistan’s cricket team would be led by Azhar Ali.
Back in September, the national cricket team of Sri Lanka arrived in Pakistan for a tour consisting of three 1-day internationals and three T-20 matches. Ten senior players at that time refused to travel to Pakistan citing security concerns.
