The United States has imposed a new policy on Friday. As per the newly introduced policy, social media account details are to be submitted necessarily by most of the US visa applicants.
As per The Hill, the administration of Trump has made it a compulsion for most of the visa applicants, which includes the temporary visitors, for providing their social media account details which they have used in the span of last 5 years in a drop-down menu alongside their other personal information.
The Hill cited a State Department official; applicants would have the choice to say that they do not use social media, however, if the applicants lie about their usage regarding social media, they could then face serious immigration consequences.
Presently, the application just requires major social media websites like Facebook, Twitter or Instagram but the domain would be extended in the near future.
The decision was announced last year however it received heavy criticism. Despite, the criticism the State Department has finally decided to move forward with the decision.
