Pakistan’s Customs preventive anti-smuggling organization raided two different areas of Karachi on Monday night and seized smuggled mobile phones worth Rs1bn.
According to the sources, two separate raids were in place by two different teams from customs and Anti-Smuggling Organization. One of the raids targeted warehouse in Gemini market in Karachi Saddar area, this raid confiscated 25,000 to 30,000 smuggled Q-Mobile phones.
The second raid was conducted in a three-story building in Baloch Colony area on Shahrah-e-Faisal. Nearly, 70,000 to 80,000 mobile phones were taken into the custody.
This is the 2nd major anti-smuggling action by the CP ASO within three days. According to the sources, this was the third major effort in which action against Q-Mobile for smuggled mobile consignments. These consignments were not properly declared in order to save money on taxes and other regulatory fees.
The recovered phones have been sent to government’s warehouse for record—the sources said.
