Earlier today, the local administration in Hyderabad imposed a smart lockdown in various parts of the city due to an increase in coronavirus cases.
As per the reports, Fuad Ghaffar Soomro the Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad has imposed a smart lockdown in 17 areas of the city from November 23rd till December 5th, 2020.
The areas where lockdown has been imposed include; Citizen Colony, Gulistan-e-Sajjad, Alamdar Chowk, Diplai Co-operative Housing Society, Attock City, Baldia Colony, Journalist Colony, Mubarak Colony, Airport Road, Kohisar, Latifabad Unit No 6, Nasim Nagar, Bhittai Town, and Bhittai Nagar.
The movement of people living in areas under the smart lockdown shall be strictly constrained and only grocery shops, convenience stores, bakeries, and pharmacies shall be allowed to remain open during specific timings.
Moreover, the streets of affected areas have been closed with hurdles and deployment of policemen.
It may be noted that the infection claimed 59 more lives across the country during the past twenty-four hours, lifting the death toll from the disease to 7,662. The number of active coronavirus cases increased to 36,683.
According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), in total, 38,983 samples were tested during the period, out of which 2,665 reported positive.
A total of 374,173 confirmed cases have been reported while 329,828 have recovered thus far. 653 of the patients under treatment and are in serious condition.
