Smart Card Vehicle Owners to Submit Token Tax Until Sept 30

The smart card holder vehicle owners have been asked by the Islamabad Excise and Taxation (E&T) department to deposit their tax until the 30th of September 2019 for avoiding any fines on doing late submissions.

The officials of the Excise department informed APP that they have taken the measures to simplify the process of tax submission and to save the time of the automobile owners. An online interface has been developed by the authorities with the assistance of Pakistan Post for gathering the token tax at its assigned branches.

The authorities have also given the details about the authorized offices to Pakistan Post. The offices in the different sectors of the federal capital include the General Post Office G-6, F-8 Markaz, F-6 General Post Office, G-10 Markaz, I-10/4, G-8 and G-9 Markaz.

The facility would also be collecting the token payment via the online interface and the record of the E&T department would be upgraded after receiving the payment.

The official also informed APP that the measure has been taken on the orders of the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad for providing ease to the public by giving E&T online payment system to the postal authorities of Pakistan at the various city locations.

It is important to mention that there were rumors spreading on the social media that the FBR has surged the token tax amount and that the vehicle owners would have to pay more this year. The revenue board has denied the rumors and said that the token payment and the registration of cars would be the same to what was charged last year and that no boost or decrease in the tax rate has been made by the government.
