Skywell Automobile to invest $50 million for Launching electric vehicles in Pakistan

On Tuesday, Fawad Chaudhry Federal Minister for Science and Technology while talking to the local media said that Skywell Automobile is going to invest 50 million dollars for the launch of electric buses in Pakistan.

The investment has been planned for the first phase. In the next phase, electric buses will be locally manufactured in Pakistan. According to the minister, these electric buses will run on the routes in Lahore and Islamabad by the end of this year.

Last week, a signing ceremony of the strategic alliance agreement took place at the Serena Hotel in Islamabad between Daewoo Pakistan and Skywell Automobiles China. Fawad Chaudhry was also invited to the ceremony as a chief guest.

According to the agreement, Daewoo Express Pakistan and Skywell Automobiles are going to work together to launch electric buses and also other electric vehicles in Pakistan. In this way, the country will have a technical support base.

Fawad Chaudhry says that this new venture is going help in boosting Pakistan’s economy and it will also provide job opportunities.

He further added that a value chain will be created in Pakistan for electric transport. The Federal Minister for Science and Technology also declared that the electric buses will become operational in Pakistan before 2021.
