Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed—the Punjab Minister for Housing and Urban Development informed on Sunday that single and double storey independent housing units would be made available under the Prime Minister’s Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme for the low—income families.
Providing details on the matter, he said that these housing units would be made available in Renala Khurd (Okara), Lodhran and Chishtian districts.
The minister said that the down payment for these houses has been decreased from 20percent to 10percent for facilitating the deserving families by the government of Punjab.
The applicants, who have already submitted their applications in these districts and desires to get the independent houses, could also file additional applications for changing of houses without any token money, as informed by the minister.
He added that such applicants could also make use of the facility of 10percent down payment.
It was further informed by the minister that the district Lodhran had also been made a part in the first phase of the scheme and the PM—Imran Khan would be inaugurating the Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme in Lodhran.
The minister said that the application forms could be submitted in the nominated branches of the Bank of Punjab in the aforementioned districts by the 31st of March.
He said that arrangements were being done to give Qarz-e-Hasna of Rs500,000 interest-free to the low-income groups of the society for constructing homes.
The minister concluded that the government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was actively looking for policies for giving shelter to low-income families.
