It has been decided by the Sindh government to resume intra-city transport services. It will be done following the formation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the service’s resumption.
This decision was made in the meeting chaired by the Federal Minister Asad Umar. The Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed also put forward the demand for restoring train services. However, all the four provinces and the provincial governments advised him against doing it.
In the meeting, different proposals were given regarding easing down the lockdown in order to resume the business activity. It was recommended by the Sindh government to resume businesses in phases.
It was suggested that shops in rural areas should be permitted to open. Also, the Sindh government proposed the opening of shopping malls for now.
It was recommended by the Sindh government to establish SOPs for Eid ul Fitr. Also, Sindh agreed that intra-city transport services must be opened after the SOPs are formulated. In a separate meeting chaired by the Prime Minister the final decision on the proposal presented by the provinces will be taken.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah called for a meeting of his own cabinet to discuss the proposals, following the conclusion of the national command center meeting.
