Sindh government has taken the decision of outsourcing the Mai Bakhtawar airport in Thar.

It is decided by the Sindh government to out-source the Mai Bakhtawar airport in Thar, says Imtiaz a Shaikh, the Sindh Minister for Energy while presiding over a meeting of (SCA) Sindh Coal Authority on Tuesday.

He mentioned that a license has been issued by the Civil Aviation for SCA approving to make the airport functional in Thar. The Minister further added that while keeping in mind the ground realities the provincial government has taken this decision to out-source the facility.

For this purpose, there would be open bidding held for the selection of the most accurate private company to carry out this initiative.

The meeting which was held before informed all the attendees including the MPAs Sadhumal Surrender Walsai, Faqir Sher Mohammad Balalani and Mohammad Qasim Soomro regarding the approval of coal mining in 4 new blocks of Thar.

In order to speed up the process of mining, international bidders are also invited.

The minister of energy said that Saudi Arabia is showing its interest in the conversion of coal into gas for producing fertilizers.

Some other officials were also part of the meeting namely Khadim Hussain Channa; Director-General of Sindh Coal Authority, Naheed Shah; Chairperson Sindh Planning and Development Board, Additional Secretary for Finance; Iffat Malik and Mussadaq Ahmad Khan; Sindh Secretary for Energy.
