Sindh Govt. Mandates Tracking Devices for All Motorcycle Owners

Tracking Devices

For curbing the motorcycle snatching crime, the government of Sindh has made the tracking devices installation a must for all the motorcycle owners throughout the province, as per the reports of local media.

The decision was taken after the cabinet meeting led by the Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah gave approval to the amendments in the Motor Vehicle Ordinance, 1965.

Motorcycle firms would also be restricted to install the trackers in the motorcycles. The Sindh Excise and Taxation Department would only be registering only those motorcycles that have got the tracking devices installed in it.

The suggestion for this amendment was first proposed in the late 2017 when the government had made the announcement that the tracking devices should be installed on all the motorcycles throughout the province in an attempt to stop the street crimes.

The stealing of bikes is one of the most commonly occurring street crimes in the city of Karachi with hundreds of motorcycles stolen or snatched on a per month basis.
