The government of Sindh has taken the decision on Tuesday to introduce a mobile service for ration distribution in the province. Through the service, ration would be distributed among the daily wagers and needy people who are affected by the coronavirus epidemic.
CM Murad Ali Shah said that they would be dedicating a number for this case. He further added that the ones who need ration could place a text on the number.
While addressing a meeting, he emphasized that the need to help the daily wagers is of priority and the ones making their livelihoods via makeshift setups, like food stalls. He said that he wants a mechanism to be formulated to help these individuals.
He considered the various ways of distributing the ration among the daily wagers, he took input from the heads of the different welfare organizations, who were also the meeting attendees.
Among the suggestions, there was one to distribute cash among the daily wagers so that they could buy the groceries as per their need. But, the idea was dropped as some indicated that the sustenance allowances was already being provided among 200,000 people on this account.
It was however decided that the since the government has already set up an application, and so, a 4-digit number would be approved on which, the ones in need of ration could get assistance.
