The government of Sindh has placed a ban on pillion-riding for the 9th and 10th of Muharram throughout the province in accordance with the security arrangements, as per the reports of local media.
As per a notification issued by the provincial home department, a ban has also been imposed on the display of weapons publicly and on the gathering of 5 or more people other than the procession of Muharram.
According to the statement, the ban should not be applied on women and children who are under the age of 12 years, personnel belonging to the law enforcement agencies, journalists, security agencies, senior citizens, security agencies in uniform and the employees of the essential services.
Earlier in September, the government of Sindh banned pillion riding across the province for 3 days as part of its drive to give foolproof security to the Muharram processions and gatherings.
As per the notification issued by the provincial home department, a ban had also been imposed on the public display of weapons and on the use of loudspeakers without taking permission.
