Sindh Announces Public Holiday on October 14

The government of Sindh has announced a public holiday on 14th October on account of the urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai.

In order to make it easy for people to attend the urs of a respectable saint Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, the public holiday has been announced. An official notification has been issued by the Administrative Department of Sindh.

The notification issued by the Sindh Chief Secretary says that all autonomous, semi-autonomous bodies, offices, local councils and corporations which lie under the Sindh government, except essential services will remain closed on this day.

This ceremony is divided into 3 days. The ceremony will begin with Literature conferences, poetry marathons, and other interesting activities in order to celebrate the poetry of the Sufi poet.

The Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai is one of those public holidays which is specially granted by the provincial government when it was deciding to eliminate most of the public holidays this year.

In some public holidays it is ordered that the academics in schools will remain suspended but the schools will have to host extracurricular activities related to the event.
