Sialkot-Lahore Motorway to be Inaugurated on August 31

Sialkot-Lahore Motorway will be inaugurated on August 31st as it is near completion. Once the Motorway is open for travel, it will take just 41 minutes to travel from Sialkot to Lahore compared to present 3 hours traveling time.

The Motorway construction cost had been worth Rs.43 billion. It is 91.2km long with 7 interchanges and 4 lanes. The interchanges will be at Kala Shah Kaku, Muridke, Narowal, Gujranwala, Pasrur, Daska and Sambrial.

Sialkot Deputy Commissioner Dr. Syed Bilal Haider said, “The project will reduce traveling time between Sialkot and Lahore to 41 minutes only.”

According to Deputy Commissioner Bilal Haider, there will be 3 sections of the motorway. First and third sections, each 30km long are ready. To complete the middle section, it will take almost a month. They are hopeful that the Lahore-Sialkot motorway section will be open on 31st August.

Once the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway is open, it will be a blessing for the people in general and traders in specific. The travel time will reduce and the cost of traveling will be more affordable.

Earlier NHA planned to extend the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway up to Khariyan by the construction of a new motorway from Sialkot to Khariyan under the Build Operator and Transfer (BOT) model.
