The authorities have issued show-cause notices to as many as seven polio workers in Faisalabad for not following the coronavirus standard operating procedures (SOPs) while vaccinating the children.
According to the details, the district administration has issued the notices to the area in-charge of the anti-polio campaign and six other workers participating in the anti-polio drive.
According to the official notification, the polio workers have skipped multiple areas of the city where they were supposed to go for the vaccination. It further added that the carelessness was seen in following the precautionary measures.
It is pertinent to mention here that the anti-polio drive has been resumed by the government across the country on July 20 after a long time because of the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Pakistan.
Dr. Zafar Mirza—a Special Assistant to the Prime Minister said that more than 32,000 polio workers will perform their duties and will vaccinate around 800,000 children in the high-risk areas of the country while observing the standard operating procedures (SOPs) formed to contain the spread of the deadly virus.
According to the shocking revelations, Pakistan has already reported as many as 59 cases of polio this year. The details said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is the most affected with 21 cases, Sindh has 20 cases, Balochistan 14 and Punjab four.
