On Monday, Syed Shibli Faraz was hired as the federal minister for Information and Broadcasting in place of Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, who was leading the ministry as PM’s special assistant for a year.
Likewise, the ex-Director General ISPR Lt General (retd.) Asim Saleem Bajwa was hired as the special assistant to PM on Information and Broadcasting. Hence, ever since the government of PTI took charge the information ministry has got formally 2 members of the cabinet to look after it.
Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan replaced the present Minister of Science and Technology, Chaudhry Fawad Hussain in April 2019.
Dr Awan has reacted to this sudden development through tweets while the media, especially social media is flooded with many charges against her, which she has openly denied.

The newly-hired special assistant, Asim Bajwa kept his position of DG-ISPR from 2012 to 2016 and enjoyed friendly relations with the media during his tenure. He retired from his post as the commander Southern Command and was made the chairman of the CPEC Authority by the incumbent government in November last year.
