SHC notifies SSGC and OGRA regarding Gas Shortage in Sindh


Earlier today, the Sindh High Court (SHC) issued a notification to the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and other gas companies regarding the shortage and closure of gas in the province.

As per the reports, the appeal against the absence of gas in Sindh especially in Karachi was taken up by the SHC. The notices issued to the chairman OGRA, SSGC, and other plaintiffs asked them to submit their replies by January 13.

The applicant in his petition stated that Sindh is making 68% of the gas of the total consumption of the country and yet the province is facing a lack of gas.

Punjab is producing 4%, Balochistan 19 and KP is producing 9% of gas. The applicant has begged the court to pass judgment about the constitutional right of the people of Sindh on its gas.

Earlier, CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah had grieved that the province had been deprived of its due share in gas supply.

 He said he has written another letter to PM Khan, demanding that the province be provided with its constitutional rights.
