SHC Issues Notice to OGRA and SSGCL over Gas Shortage

On Wednesday, the Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued notices to the chairperson of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) against the gas shortage in the province.

As per the details, the SSGCL MD has been asked to submit a reply at the next hearing.

Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar stated that the Supreme Court has issued a thorough judgment on the shortage of gas in the country. He further added that we will review the situation in light of the top court’s orders.

Moreover, the petitioner said that as per Article 158 of the Constitution, the province that produces the most gas should receive the most.

He said many industries have been shut for the time being in the province because of the gas shortage in Sindh.

Back on December 26th, a District East consumer court in Karachi issued notices to the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited over the shortage of gas in the city.

Muhammad Atif Ghafoor the petitioner said there has been a problem with his gas connection for 2 months. He said that there is a gas shortage at my house but we still keep receiving gas bills.
