Seven Pakistani Universities in World’s Top 1000 QS Ranking List

UK-based rating agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has ranked the world’s top 1000 universities. Seven Pakistani universities have made it to the World’s Top 1000 QS Ranking list.

From Pakistan, Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) was the highest ranked university on the QS list for 2020.

PIEAS was ranked at 375th position on the world ranking of 1,000 universities. It was ranked on the basis of its student-faculty ratio, very high research output among other merit points.

National University of Science and Technology followed PIEAS and stood at 400th position for its very high research output number of students and faculty. On the criteria of 77.4 citations per faculty, Quaid-e-Azam University was ranked 511.

Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) stood at 701 on basis of its employer reputation and COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore and University of Punjab had an 801st position on the global list of 1,000 top universities.

The only private sector university of Pakistan that made to the list was LUMS. While NUST said in a statement that in the last three years it has ascended 128 positions in the world ranking.

The criteria of the QS university rankings is teaching and research quality, per paper citations and papers per faculty, the reputation of the employer and internationalization measures taken by the university.
