The Supreme Court has prohibited the federal government on Monday from selling PSM’s land, as per the reports of local media.
A 2-member bench, led by Justice Gulzar Ahmed, did the hearing of the case regarding the payment of the provident fund to the employees of Pakistan Steel Mills.
The deputy advocate general representing the government, during the hearing process, informed the court that the government is selling the land as they do not have enough funds for paying the salaries and provident funds to the employees.
During the hearing session, Justice Gulzar Ahmed showed anger over the performance of PSM.
He said that PSM used to make cars, trucks, and rockets, however, now the production of the PSM is zero. He added that it has been ruined by the responsible people for filling their own pockets.
The court prohibited the government from selling the land of PSM and said that it cannot be sold as it belongs to the people of Pakistan.
The hearing was suspended for 15 days.
