The State Bank of Pakistan—SBP has made the announcement that the fresh currency notes for the general public would be issued from the 20th of May until the 31st of May.
The central bank also announced that the fresh currency notes for Eid-ul-Fitr would be made available through text messaging service which would become operational from the 19th of May.
For booking the currency notes, citizens would have to send in their CNIC number and the bank identification number to 8877. The identification numbers for the e-branches would be provided on the websites of the private banks and SBP.
The State Bank of Pakistan has placed a limit of one booking per CNIC number sent from a mobile phone number and multiple CNIC numbers would not be accepted from the same mobile phone number.
New fresh notes would be available at 1,700 branches of different banks throughout the cities, as per the reports of local media.
Citizens could get a maximum of three bundles of Rs10, and one bundle each of Rs50 and Rs100 notes.
Muslims across the world are set to celebrate Eid in the first week of June. As per traditions fresh currency notes are given out to children and others by the family adults as a present on the joyous occasion of Eid.
