The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has extended the operation timings of banks. The timings have been extended from 9 am to 5:30 pm for the commercial and microfinance banks. These timings are to be effective from the 13th of July.
As per the issued notification, the banks would ensure that the timings of the banks from Monday to Thursday with a break in between 1:30 pm to 2 pm. Where as, on Friday the branches would be taking a break from 1 pm to 2:30 pm for the prayers and lunch.
The revised bank timings would be meeting the needs of the customers with the reopening of the business activities across the nation.
The State Bank has permitted the banks and the microfinance banks to take the decision of keeping the business hour for public dealings fixed.
The central bank had reduced the working hours of the branches from 10 am to 4:30 pm since late March 2020 as a preventive step to combat against the coronavirus outbreak.
The central bank has also encouraged the digital banking for reducing the visits of the customers to the branches.
As per the central bank one per cent of the branches are operating across the nation.
It is pertinent to mention that the bank services has surged immensely in the span of the past few months owing to the different relief schemes that have been introduced by the State Bank over the period of time.
