Visa-on-arrival has been introduced by Saudi Arabia for Pakistanis as well as other nationals who have the valid UK, US or Schengen visas on their passports.
Under the newly introduced facility, the visitors will be permitted to perform Umrah but not Hajj. Also, applicants can acquire multiple entry visit visa on arrival at any international airport in Saudi Arabia. They just need to pay SR440 or approximately Rs18,040. They can pay via their credit cards. It is important to mention here that cash transactions are not accepted.
The decision was welcomed by Pakistan calling it a move that has enhanced the strength of bilateral ties between the two countries.
Ministry of Religious Affairs spokesperson Imran Siddiqui said, “We welcome this initiative by the Saudi government to grant visit visas on arrival to Pakistanis on which they can also perform Umrah.”
As the visitors are allowed to stay for 90 days at a stretch, they can visit Saudi Arabia multiple times during the validity period of their visit visa.
There are pre-conditions to get the visit visa on arrival, one of them being that passengers would have to come on a Saudi-based airlines which can be Saudi Airlines, Flynas or Flydeal. This is mandatory just for first time visitors. But visitors who already have a Saudi visit visa can use any other airline.
As per a reservations agent at the Saudi Airlines in Dubai, “Anyone who has a valid UK, US or Schengen visa can obtain visit visa to Saudi Arabia on arrival. However, visa is issued to only those applicants who have used their US, UK or Schengen visa for at least once. You will not be given visa on arrival if you have US, UK or Schegen visa stamped on your passport but have never used it.”
