Samsung is sending the April 2021 security patch to Galaxy A9 Star

Samsung has started rolling out the April 2021 security patch to the Galaxy A9 Star. The rollout started from China and Hong Kong for the unlocked and carrier variants.

Samsung has started rolling out the April 2021 security patch to the Galaxy A9 Star. This smartphone was launched in June 2018 and came with Android 8.0. It then received the Android 9 update in June 2019. The rollout started from China and Hong Kong for the unlocked and carrier variants.

The update is coming to devices with build numbers: SM-G8850 and SM-G8858. According to the source, this update comes with 30 fixes from Google and 21 fixes from Samsung. The update could also bring some enhancements.

The firmware for this security patch comes with the below numbers:

  • China (China Mobile): G8858ZMS6CUD2
  • China (Unlocked) G8850ZCS6CUD1
  • Hong Kong: G8850ZHS6CUD2

Users residing in any of these two countries and owning a Galaxy A9 Star could soon expect to get this update or manually check for the update by going to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install.
