Galaxy XCover 5

Samsung is preparing to launch a new rugged smartphone with the Galaxy XCover 5 soon. The device will initially only appear as a business-oriented version. We now have the official technical data.

As expected, the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5 will come with a 5.3-inch screen, which is a rather simple TFT-LCD that has a resolution of 1600×720 pixels, commonly known as HD +. This means that Samsung remains true to the compact format of its predecessor models and it quickly becomes clear that the device has been tailored to the business market.

Under the hood, there is a breath of fresh air in the form of the Samsung Exynos 850, which comes with eight computing cores to 2.0 gigahertz. 5G is not used for radio transmission, but the normal LTE Cat.7 with up to 300 Mbit / s in the downstream. Samsung has also given the Xcover 5 a rather economical four gigabytes of RAM and only 64 GB of internal flash memory, which can easily be expanded using a microSD card.

In addition, the new rugged smartphone from Samsung only has a very economical camera equipment, because it does without any gimmicks such as the use of a large number of camera sensors. The only camera on the back uses a 16-megapixel sensor with a considerably large F / 1.8 aperture that should capture a lot of light. On the front, Samsung has again installed a simple 5-megapixel camera with an F / 2.2 aperture.

A battery that is not exactly lush with 3000mAh is part of the additional equipment, but it can be charged relatively quickly using the 15 watt power adapter. In addition, unlike practically all other current Samsung smartphones, the battery can be replaced by the user. There are also features such as NFC, a flashlight function, support for mPOS solutions and Samsung Knox.

The price of the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5 should be relatively low at just under 300 euros. We do not yet know when the official presentation will take place so that we will have the first pictures.
