Saddar Market of Karachi is the highest tax-paying market of the country, as per the data shared by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for 2018.
There are a total of 72,339 tax filers in Saddar, who collectively paid Rs.77.2 billion in taxes for the financial year that ended in June 2018.
Following the Saddar of Karachi, the second-highest tax-paying area of Pakistan is the Blue Area of Islamabad, paying an amount of Rs.40 billion with the total number of filers being 5,854.
The highest tax-paying market in the nation’s second-largest city, the provincial hub of Punjab (Lahore) was the Multan Road, where there are a total of 17,800 filers and the taxes paid in billions is Rs.11 billion.
FBR has gathered the data based on the registered addresses of the tax-filers. The retail outlets have been reported according to the registered address of their head offices.
On the other hand, as per the latest, it is expected that the city of lights might experience severe gas and electricity load-shedding during the upcoming winter season due to the shortage of gas.
