Russian Ministry says the first vaccine for COVID-19 is ready for use

According to the media reports, Russia claimed that the vaccine for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), developed with the Russian Defence Ministry, has completed the Phase 2 trials and ready for use.

“Russia’s first vaccine against the novel coronavirus infection, which was created by military specialists and scientists of the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, is ready, said First Deputy Defense Minister Ruslan Tsalikov.

The Russian Defence Minister on Monday reported that jointly with the Gamaleya National Research Center, it has successfully completed the clinical trials of the vaccine made for the coronavirus infection on volunteers.

It is pertinent to mention here that in June, the Russian Ministry issued a permit for the clinical tests of a liquid and freeze-dried coronavirus vaccine development by the Gamaleya National Research Center after collaborating with the Russian Defense Ministry’s research institute No 48.

As per the details, the liquid vaccine is being tested on as many as 43 volunteers at the Burdenko Main Military Hospital and the freeze-dried vaccine is being tested at the Schenov Medical University also on 43 volunteers.

The Chief Executive of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) Kirill Dmitriev hoped to complete the trails of the vaccine made for the coronavirus patients in August and produce 200 million doses with the foreign partners by the end of the ongoing year.
