Russia has developed the first vaccine for COVID-19: President Putin

The Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday announced that the country has developed the first vaccine for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

“This morning, for the very first time in the entire world, a vaccine against the new coronavirus was registered in Russia,” President Putin said.

The President of Russia said that one of his daughters had this coronavirus vaccine. “I think in this sense she took part in the experiment,” Putin, during a televised video conference call with the other ministers of the government, said.

It is pertinent to mention here that Russia has been working hard to quickly develop the vaccine against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and the Russian government earlier this month said it hoped to launch the mass production of the vaccine with weeks and turn out “several million” doses per month next year.

Last week, Russia was urged by the World Health Organization (WHO) to follow the established guidelines and go through all the stages necessary to develop the coronavirus vaccine.

The coronavirus pandemic has seen an unprecedented mobilization of funding and research to rush through a vaccine that can protect billions of people globally.
