As per reports, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf ruled federal government has taken the decision of disbanding the Ruet-e-Hilal committees at all levels and delegate the task of moon sighting to the Meteorological Department.
According to the local media reports, the decision was made in mid of the repeated annoyance after the controversial decisions of moon sightings by the committees in the past, which costed a lot to the national exchequer.
The decision of disbanding the Ruet-e -Hilal committees would also be helping in putting an end to the confusion on the sightings of the moon for the month start and end, as per the reports.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) which is well equipped and facilitated to forecast or predict the moon birth in advance based on the scientific calculations, is to be given the job of moon sighting, the reports further informed.
In the religion Islam it is a popular belief that the right of making announcement for moon sighting for Ramazan and Eid rests with the authority of the state.
In the meantime, on Sunday, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal committee chairman—Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman made the announcement that the crescent of Jamadi-ul-Awal has not been sighted and the 1st of Jamadi-ul-Awal 1440 Hijri would be observed on Tuesday that is tomorrow.
The announcement was made after he led a meeting of the central Ruet-e-Hilal committee in Karachi on Sunday.
This news appears to be fake as later, the government has completely denied any such plans of abolishing the Ruet-e-Hilal committee.
