New coronavirus cases are dropping down in Punjab because of the initiatives the government has taken to control it, says Raja Basharat Punjab Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Social Welfare.
He chaired a meeting on Saturday of the cabinet committee on anti-coronavirus at the Chief Minister’s house.
Many officials including; Punjab Ministers Mian Aslam Iqbal and Hashim Jawan Bakht and Yasmeen Rashid, Additional Chief Secretary, Punjab Chief Secretary, specialized healthcare secretary, the primary and secondary health secretary, Punjab inspector general of police (IGP) and other concerned heads of department were at the meeting.
During the meeting, Raja Basharat briefed that in order to eradicate the pandemic disease completely from the country it was important to maintain a trend of reduction in the number of COVID-19 cases by through precautions and SOPs. He further added that to maintain the reduction there is a need to enforce strict protocols in the cattle markets which have been set up temporarily for Eid-ul-Azha.
According to Basharat, the administration needs to spread awareness among the citizens via media to ensure the implementation of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in the cattle markets. They also need to remove illegal street markets.
Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat asked the health department to finalize SOPs for Eid prayers and sacrificial gatherings.
