Rang De Haripur Drive Brought Colors to the City

The Rang De Haripur campaign as the name implies has filled the entire city with beautiful colors.

The color drive began with the painting on the walls of the Higher Secondary School and the office of the Deputy Commissioner by the youth and students.

The city walls are now covered with beautiful and vibrant colored paintings and graffiti spreading social awareness instead of the conventional commercial ads and political logos and slogans.

The people of the city participated enthusiastically during the campaign and displayed their artistic skills on various public offices through the entire competition encouraged by the offices of Deputy Commissioner, DPO, Education Department and EDO.

The campaign was initiated by the efforts and contributions of Creative Bachelors Society, a student union working under the management of the University of Haripur.

Prizes for the competition are to be announced sometime later for the best creative art.

Subhan Mirza and Mahrukh Riyaaz of Microbiology Department, are the representatives of the Creative Bachelors Society. They said the artist with the best graffiti would be awarded a cash prize of rupees one lac.

They further added that the purpose of Rang-De-Haripur was to highlight and get the hidden talents acknowledged. A high percentage of university students participated in the drive.

According to Mirza more than a thousand people registered for the campaign. He said other than adding beauty to the city people also got a chance to display their artworks on walls.

Lady Riyaz said that district administration extended their full support. All public departments played their role actively by facilitating the students to spread awareness relating the campaign. She added that pupils of both private and public institutes took part in the competition.

Dr. Ubaid Fareed—VC University of Haripur mentioned that the school children also showed great interest in this initiative and actively took part.
