Pakistan Railways would be launching the new computerized ticket examiner system by the end of this month that is February which would be replacing the present manual system.
Raza Ali Habib—Divisional Commercial Officer (DCO) Pakistan Railways—Rawalpindi Division informed that all the needed arrangements are almost done and are in the finalizing phase for introducing the new system which would assist in boosting the Railway’s profits and would keep an eye on the ones travelling without tickets.
The new system would be on auto-update meaning that it would update everything automatically which includes the passengers, time, fare and fine collection, seat availability, etc, as informed by the DCO Rawalpindi Division.
Initially, the system would be introduced for the Rawalpindi to Lahore, two Rail Cars. Under the new system, an international standard iPad device linked to the GPS system would be provided to the ticket checker which would be used for the collection of fare or fine from the onboard passengers.
Raza Ali Habib also informed that the new system would also be improving the performance of the checkers as they would be monitored, and their location would be checked via the devices.
The devices would be equipped with built-in software. The checkers are being trained on how to use the devices.
While responding to a question he said that the new system would slowly be introduced for other trains also.
The devices have been imported. He also informed that the Kohat-Rawalpindi Rail track has been rehabilitated recently along with the renovation of four other Railway stations in Peshawar and Rawalpindi divisions for providing better facilities to the passengers of the Kohat Express.
He also mentioned about the new ticket reservation office that has been set up at Platform No.2 of the Rawalpindi Railway Station for the provision of better services to the passengers of Mehar Express, Kohat Rail Car and Hazara Express.
Abdul Malick—the Division Superintendent Railways—Rawalpindi Division, said that efforts are being made by the Railways for providing ease and good facilities to the passengers and that the recommencement of the Kohat Rail Car service was done on the demand of public.
He informed that high-security arrangements have also been made at the Rawalpindi Railway Station for providing security services to the passengers and good parking arrangement are also made for facilitating the visitors.
He added that due to the handwork and continuous efforts of the railways management, workers and officers the income of the Pakistan Railways—Rawalpindi Division has increased a lot.
