Railways to Launch 3 New Trains

Sheikh Rasheed—the Federal Minister for Railways has made the announcement of launching 3 new trains on an immediate basis for the betterment of the department.

The announcement was made by the minister at a press conference held at the Rail Headquarters on Saturday.

Sheikh Rasheed informed that the decision to operate 3 new trains from the next month has been taken by the railways. He added that a new train would be taking the route between Lahore and Faisalabad from the 1st of October, while Mohenjo-Daro Express and Rohi Express trains would become operational from the 16th of October.

For the facilitation of the passengers, Sheikh Rasheed announced that all the reservation offices throughout the country would remain open until midnight and added that till the 30th of December the reservation offices would remain open 24/7.

The minister added that it has also been decided to offer private partners to join hands and take over the Golra Railway station for converting it into a food street and picnic point.

The railway’s minister also said that ten thousand new employees would be hired in the department on an immediate basis and a draft had been sent to the Prime Minister—Imran Khan for seeking his approval in the matter. He informed that the department was facing a shortage of twenty-three thousand employees, however, ten thousand employees are required on an immediate basis on merit.

Sheikh Rasheed also assured to bring down the Railway’s deficit to zero within a year.

The department of railways would soon be developed as a modern technical organization, the minister said. He mentioned that the tenders for the supply of clean drinking water and other facilities would soon be opened.

Putting some light, on freight trains Sheikh Rasheed said that no improvement has been made on the freight sector and even the count of freight trains is the same as it was twelve years back. He promised to increase the number of freight trains from ten to fifteen within one hundred and twenty days.

He also said that Karachi would be made the freight headquarters for the railways as Karachi was the centre of all business activities.

He informed that the response of the new train was good and nearly average six hundred passengers were getting facilitated by the newly launched trains.
