Railways to Launch 20 More Trains in 2019

Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed—the Railways Minister on Saturday informed that 20 more trains would be launched in 2019. The to be launched trains include 2 VVIP trains having food supplied by any 5-star hotel.

While addressing a press conference at a local hotel, he said that 20 freight trains would alsp be made operational before the 23rd of March 2019.

The minister for Railways further said that a good response has been received so far after the introduction of new trains during the first 90 days span so the decision of running more trains has been taken.

Sheikh Rasheed also thanked the Chief Justice of Pakistan for providing a deadline of 60 days to all the courts for giving decisions about the railway’s cases.

He also said that the chief justice had done a lot for the country which would be remembered forever.

The minister informed the media that the railway teams had seized 6712 ticket nonpayers from trains during the span of last 6 days and Rs70 million were gathered from them in the form of fines and fares.

The minister also added that he has warned all the divisional superintendents to not tolerate ticket cheats in the trains and asked the passengers for not travelling without tickets in the trains.

He also mentioned that a special coach for women was also being attached with the Rehman Baba express trains on the request of Pakhtoon friends, but, in some time a special lady’s compartment would be added with all the trains to Karachi.

He also asked the passengers for not travelling on the rooftop of trains as safety was crucial over everything.

He went further by adding that the passengers could directly report to him in case of any misconduct of any railway employee with any passenger.

Sheikh Rasheed also said that ECC had given approval to oil depots in Engine sheds and all railways oil transport would be unified in one single unit until the formation of fuel pumps in the railways.

The minister told the public to suggest names for the new trains and announced a reward of Rs25,000 upon the suggestion of a good name.
