The Pakistan Railways has surged the freight charges by 10 percent.
As per the announcement of Pakistan Railways, the fares of the freight trains have been increased by 10percent and the freight and parcel charges have been surged by 5percent.
The new rates would be put into effect from the 20th of June.
In the meantime, the Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan—Kuninori Matsuda on Monday called on to Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed—the federal minister for Railways at the Ministry. Cooperation between Pakistan and Japan in the railway sector was discussed, as per an issued press release. The minister gave an invitation to Japan for partnership in high-speed rail project to set up between Rawalpindi—Lahore—Hyderabad and Karachi.

Sheikh Rasheed said that the Japanese investment and alliance would be welcomed in Pakistan Railways. He said that Pakistan was keen to get help from the technology and expertise of Japan. The minister informed that PR was taking measures for interlinking the European and Central Asian nations.
He termed the Japanese alliance as a good initiative.
He also suggested that the Japanese firms should make use of the opportunity of investment in the Railway Locomotive Factory Risalpur and Carriage Factory Islamabad.
Kuninori Matsuda said that both the countries were enjoying historical ties. He said that there was scope to extend the relations in trade and economic divisions. He further said that Japan was interested in having an alliance with Pakistan Railways and with new Railways projects further advanced.
