In order to facilitate the senior citizens of the country, the Pakistan Railways have so far issued around Rs 21 million free tickets across the country to the people ageing over 75 years.
According to an official of the ministry, the Pakistan Railways (PR) had been issuing 50 per cent discount to 65-year-old elders, 50 per cent of discount to the disabled and students, and 25 per cent discount to a person travelling along with the disabled person.

“The first aid boxes and the emergency medical facilities are available in the passengers trains as well as at the stations of the Pakistan Railways across the country,” the official added.
To use the medical equipment in case of emergency, the operational staffer like station master, assistant station master, guard, and other members have been trained by the ministry, he said.
The railways representative further said that in case of any emergency during the journey, the railway doctor can also be called from the nearest next railway hospital to examine the condition of the passenger.
The doctor will further decide that if the patient should be admitted to the hospital or should be allowed to continue the journey after giving the necessary medication, he said.
The official of the Pakistan Railways said that the department had upgraded around 52 kilometres tracks during the period of last 11 months to ensure a safe and smooth journey.
