Revealing a large difference between the expenditure and earnings of Radio Pakistan, it was disclosed by the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting—Fawad Chaudhry that the Radio Pakistan gets more than it earns. A total of Rs5.4 billion are spent on the national public service broadcaster by the federal government while it earns just Rs200 million.
While sharing the details of his visiting experience to the RadioPakistan Museum, the information minister told the parliament that there was no other option besides introducing reforms in the institution.
He said that the government is giving Rs5.4 billion to Radio Pakistan whereas its own generated income is just Rs200million. The information minister regretted the fact that Radio Pakistan imports everything from aboard.

He disclosed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government intends to run the affairs of both the institutions Pakistan Television (PTV)and Pakistan Radio via a single board of directors.
He further added that the government is working on a detailed plan of merging the management system of both the institutions. The minister promised to make PTV and Radio Pakistan revenue generating institutions within the span of next few years.
In the meantime, the lawmaker Pervez Ashraf said that the government had claimed to plant one billion trees but so far only saplings were planted.
The PML-N leader—Marriyum Aurangzeb inquired the government to tell where these trees were planted.
