To promote a distance learning system throughout Pakistan, the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Radio Pakistan.
The signing ceremony was attended by Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz, Secretary Education Ms. Farah Hamid Khan, and Secretary Information and Broadcasting Ms. Zahida Parveen.
The establishment of ‘Radio Schools’ is a step towards ensuring access to education at the doorstep to save the educational loss due to COVID-19.
The children belonging to distant areas would benefit from this initiative of the Federal Education Ministry.
Radio Schools would broadcast educational programs from 10 am to 12 pm in the morning and a repeat telecast would be broadcasted in the evening.
These programs could also be accessed through Internet and Mobile App.
Shafqat Mehmood said that the girls would be major beneficiaries of this initiative.
Our government was providing education to students especially the girls at their doorsteps aiming to provide education to them
Last year the Education Ministry in collaboration with PTV launched the ‘Teleschool’ project from which around 8 million children took the advantage of distance learning.
The source further added that the aim of these steps is to take benefit from all available resources rather than rely on one thing.
The Ministry of Federal Education is also introducing a policy for distance education, which will be a compulsory part of the National Education Policy.
