Punjab Starts 5 Day Polio Campaign Today
A five-day anti-polio drive has been launched in Punjab which will continue till January 15. In Lahore, 1.8 million children under the age of five will be vaccinated against polio, while a total of 20 million children in the province are targeted to be vaccinated.
Vitamin A drops are also being given along with polio drops. Lahore has become a polio hotbed, 48,000 teams have been formed for the campaign in Punjab. Police personnel have also been deployed to protect the teams. A week ago, an international report revealed that Lahore had become a hotbed of polio during the Coronavirus outbreak. The Independent Monitoring Board had declared Lahore the epicentre of the poliovirus.
Chief Minister Announced
Punjab Chief Minister has also announced the polio campaign in the province and tweeted about the drive, CM called upon people to help and cooperate with Polio teams in order to make the campaign successful.
