Sardar Usman Buzdar, the CM of Punjab granted approval for introducing a biometric verification system for the vehicles’ registration in the province.
As per reports, the Punjab Motor Vehicles Rules 1969 would be changed to biometrically verify the registration of the vehicles instead of the transfer order forms.
CM Punjab headed a meeting at his office in which various matters about the Excise and Taxation Department which included the matter of issuing number plates and a new system of vehicle registration were reviewed.
He informed that the government was changing the old system to make it an updated one as per the modern-day demands.
CM Buzdar explained that the citizens would be able to register their automobiles via the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and the excise office via biometric verification and this facility would also be provided with the authorized motor dealers.
The CM asked the concerned officials to formulate a plan for biometrically verifying the applicants via their cellular devices.
Moreover, he asked about speeding up the process of vehicle number plate issuance for the comfort of the citizens.
