A smartphone based app named Pehchaan has been launched by the Punjab police. The app would allow citizens to inspect criminal records before they hire domestic help.
The app has been launched in collaboration with Punjab Safe Cities Authorities (PSCA). The app will allow citizens to check if someone has a criminal history or not.
The app was formally launched by the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore, Zulfiqar Hameed. It was introduced at a ceremony held at the CCPO office on Thursday. The ceremony also attended by a DIG Investigation, Dr. Inam Waheed, and SSP Investigation, Zeeshan Asghar.
CCPO Lahore Zulfiqar Hameed while explaining to the media about the app said, “After signing up for the application, citizens will be able to know about any criminal records before hiring a domestic worker through the Pehchaan App.”
Other than this the app can be used to carry out many identifications. For example the app can be beneficial after conducting a financial transaction with an unknown individual.
For just the time being, the Pechaan app is being launched in Lahore. Later, the app will be made available across the province.
