The Punjab government on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha announced the closure of all markets across the province from Monday night to prevent the spread of coronavirus which is still a big public threat. According to the Punjab government’s order, the Markets will be closed for 10 days.
A meeting of the Anti-Corona Cabinet Committee presided by Provincial Law Minister Raja Basharat was held at the Chief Minister’s House in which Mian Aslam Iqbal and other ministers participated.
On the occasion, Provincial Health Minister Dr. Yasmeen Rashid proposed a solution to keep the Coronavirus spread under control on this big occasion, the Minister advised keeping the markets closed till August 5, which was unanimously approved. The Cabinet Committee Anti-Corona approved the proposal.
The participants of the meeting said that the markets were being closed on Eid-ul-Fitr due to the spread of Coronavirus. The meeting also considered limiting the working hours of the markets. On the other hand, it has been decided to open cinemas and theaters across the province after Muharram.
The participants of the meeting also discussed the ban on traveling to other cities and provinces for tourism on Eid-ul-Adha. However, the final decision on the sanctions will be clear after the notification of Secretary Primary and Secondary Health Care Capt (retd) Muhammad Usman.
On the other hand, Information Minister Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chauhan in an exclusive interview with a local TV channel said that there will be severe lockdown in the markets till next Wednesday, the decision will be implemented from tonight. He said that Eid-ul-Fitr SOPs would also be implemented on Eid-ul-Adha. Strict SOPs will be implemented in cattle markets as well. The issue will be discussed after Muharram for opening theaters, restaurants, and entertainment venues, he added.
