Asad Umar, the Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms and Special Initiatives has said that public awareness is necessary for curbing the spread of coronavirus.
While heading the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) meeting, the minister said that public awareness and education on coronavirus safety instructions and preventive steps is the only best possible way to handle with the coronavirus pandemic.
He also indicated that there is a need for gathering feedback on the locally manufactured samples of N-95 masks.
He also said that there was a need to make an analysis on the capacity of the indigenous production of the N-95 masks and to ponder over the matter for levelling up for the production.
He indicated to form an inter-ministerial group of related ministries with the Ministry of Industries as its member.
The minister also mentioned that there was also a need to find a gap between the directives and deliver policy after comprehensive discussion whereas the guidance would be taken from the Health Ministry in this regard.
He also asked the NDMA Chairman to inform the meeting regarding the medical equipment that has been imported and the strategy that has been taken for its distribution.
The minister also asked the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, the Ministry of Health and the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) to formulate instructions for the patients who are placed under the quarantine centres. The guidelines need to be developed before the holy month.
