The new Federal Government of PTI has decided to sack President National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Saeed Ahmed Khan due to corruption and mismanagement allegations on him.
During a press conference in Islamabad, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry told media that PTI government has decided to remove the NBP president. He further said changes in legislation and laws of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) would be made in order to strengthen the organization so it can fight corruption effectively.
Earlier in June, the accountability court voided the verdict against President Khan in a supplementary reference filed against the former minister for finance Ishaq Dar, it was the reference for money laundering worth millions of dollars.
The case was heard by Judge Muhammad Bashir, the accused including NBP president Saeed Ahmed Khan, Naeem Mehmood and Mansoor Raza of Hajveri Trust appeared before the court.
The trial against president NBP began on March 1 and it is still under progress before the final verdict can be given against the accused. Until then, the President NBP as decided by the Federal government of Pakistan would be removed from his position.
