The ruling political party of the country, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced to challenge the appointment of Maryam Nawaz as the vice president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the court.
Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that daughter of former PM Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz Sharif is convicted by the court of the country, how she can hold a party position.
Minister said that Maryam Nawaz Sharif was given a temporary relief as her jail term was suspended, but her conviction remains intact.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said the consultation was underway with the lawyers in this regard and the ruling party is also considering to approach the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) over the issue.
Earlier, a special assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has also termed the appointment of Maryam Nawaz as ridiculing the law.
Law week, the president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had announced to nominate the former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as the Senior Vice President of the opposition political party.
