The Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) is all set to launch its city-wide bus touring services today (Wednesday) in the federal capital that is Islamabad. The project has already faced many delays and has been under talks for months, and now finally all the arrangements are done for its introduction today.
Malik Rafiq Rajwana—Governor Punjab is expected to inaugurate the Islamabad City Tour Bus Service.
Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor—Managing Director PTDC visited the various parts of the main office for analysing the arrangements made for the service.
Instructions were given out to the audit and tourist information centres, General managers, Flashman Hotel General manager and many others for making sure that the arrangements are properly met and are completed on time while at the same time strict security measures are adopted.
Mukhtar Ali—Media Manager PTDC informed that the police band would be performing national songs and tunes during the inauguration ceremony.
Also, the Flashman Hotel and the complete PTDC office has been decorated with banners, small national flags and colourful ribbons.
While providing the details of the programme the Media Manager—Mukhtar Ali informed that the tour buses would take the students from their various educational institutions to a trip around the city as their recreational trip including the Faisal Mosque and the national monument. The bus would be followed and accompanied by a long fleet of vehicles.
The PTDC official mentioned that the tour bus fares would be in affordable ranges and appropriate. Other than the gunning of the bus tour the PTDC—Managing Director would also be inaugurating the bus terminal for the tour at the Super Market.
The bus service by PTDC has been in discussions since last year. It was initially planned to be launched on the 27th of September on the World Tourism Day. At that time the PTDC informed that nine buses would be providing the tour services from Lok Virsa and would go around the city ending the trip at the Faisal Mosque.
The PTDC has also plans of running the double-decker tourist buses within the cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi-the tour route of these buses would be Faisal Mosque–> the Zoo–> Rawal Lake–> the Park of Sector F-9–> Lok Virsa–> Children Park as well as Ayyub Park in the city of Rawalpindi and the Taxila Museum on the weekends.
