Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has declared the provisioning of internet services without a license as an illegal act, in recent media advertisements PTA has sent the awareness message to people who are selling internet services in internal cities and local areas using a Cat/5/5e/6 cable system.
PTA has now issued a warning to the people provisioning such services to the users in their local areas, PTA said, “Providing internet services without the valid license is illegal, internet services providers must stop selling internet services without the license. Anyone caught selling internet services without a valid PTA license would be prosecuted according to the PTA Act.”
PTA has also posted messages with advertisements on social media. The regulatory watchdog has previously issued a warning to the companies and users using VPNs in the country. PTA required VPN users to register their VPNs by the end of June 2020. A similar warning was issued to people using VPNs.
