PTA Asks Zong to Take Down 5G Service Ads

PTA has asked Zong to take down the 5G service advertisements.

As per the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority—PTA, Zong was only permitted to conduct the test and trial of 5G technology.

On Tuesday a press statement was issued, in which the PTA clarified that Zong do not have the authority to offer commercial mobile services based on the 5G technology in Pakistan.

It added that the mobile network provider has been told to withdraw its advertisements from the electronic and print media that might mislead the public about the availability of commercial services based on the 5G network.

The statement further mentioned that in accordance with the policy directives issued by the Government of Pakistan, PTA has revealed its plans for facilitating the public testing of the 5G technology and linked services in the country this year.

It also added that this trial was the first one to be done in the country.

As per the statement other mobile operators would also be conducting the 5G trails in future under the provided guidelines of the policy.
